Utopia Rote Lodge Details

Overview

At Utopia we wish to offer you more than just accommodation in the hill tops of Rote island.
Located off the grid in the midst of nature we invite you to come out of your comfort zone to unplug, recharge and return back to your roots.
Our aim is to run as a sustainable and self sufficient lodge with as low impact to the environment as possible to retain the pristine beauty of this island – its more than just being “Eco” its an unshakable commitment to a sustainable lifestyle.
We have constructed indigenous natural buildings with dry compost toilets and solar heated water system for the showers. Thanks to the sun the lodge is fully solar powered choosing to run with minimal Electricity enough to cover bare necessities such as Fans, lights and communal Charging station. We have also planted our own vegetable gardens and fruit trees to provide for our healthy dishes on the menu. During the day you can come enjoy the view by our Pool to refresh, relax, get a massage or simply read your book.
We were inspired to created a true Utopian living space not only for solo travels, couples, families and friends to retreat but to host and run our own wide range of Retreats and courses (Yoga, Surf, Meditation, Art, natural building etc.). Alternatively our venue is also ideal for Wedding celebrations, parties and family camps.
At this point we have availability to 3 different private lodgings with stunning ocean view.
All accommodation is designed to make you feel part of the surrounding nature: Simple, earthy indigenous architecture with tasteful touches to make you feel comfortable in the wild.
Our buildings are constructed using only local materials such as Rotes famous and remarkable lontar palm tree which has over 100 uses to the local people. You will find many different kind of stones used in all features sourced from the land directly or from nearby.
We also value the art of recycling and therefore have included old boat wood as a building material. The inspiration to our decoration in the whole territory springs from Rotenese craft making and traditional weaving which we wish to support in every way.
All rooms have traditional thatch roofs, open air bathrooms and dry compost toilets, balconies with forest and ocean view and star gazing facing Rotes vibrant sunsets.
All accommodation can fit 2 extra people.
All accommodation have free drinking water, mosquito nets.

THE DESTINATION
Far off the beaten track, Rote Island has its own exotic and distinct character, with clean pristine beaches, raw landscapes, epic waves and lush coral reefs to explore. It’s a remote oasis where animals still roam free and tourists don’t overtake the island. Perfect for travelers looking for adventure and an escape from the crowds. Utopia Rote Lodge was created with the dream of building a sanctuary that will eventually be completely self-sustainable. For this reason, it operates on solar power only and places emphasis on compost and permaculture. There is minimal electricity, compost toilets and fresh jungle ocean air to whisper you to sleep. The garden and farm continue to expand in order to be able to use more and more of our own pro-duce, working together with the local community to bring back organic farming and help with the management of waste. Utopia Rote Lodge is located on a hill, minutes away from the beach.
