Self Contained Studio Cabins
Three contemporary eco-cabins each nestled in their own individual forest setting. You will be surrounded by wildlife of all sorts, including birds, mammals, arthropods and reptiles. Each cabin is self-contained with gas hotplates and oven, gas bar fridge, pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, glass wear, baking trays etc. Dining table, spacious lounge area, en-suite bathroom, a cosy wood heater and a private deck or lawn with an outdoor bath. Eco facilities include composting toilets, 12 volt solar electricity and protected forest all around.

Big Tree Cabin
A contemporary, spacious eco-cabin nestled in the forest offering easy access, privacy and spectacular views of old growth forest. Ideally suited for couples it is equipped with a queen-sized bed. A single trundle and a sofa bed are also available.
A contemporary, spacious eco-cabin situated within a fern glade, next to a small mountain stream, this studio cabin offers absolute privacy. Tucked away along its own private driveway Streamside Cabin is ideal for honeymooners and couples celebrating special times in their lives. It is equipped with a queen-sized bed. A single trundle bed and double sofa bed are also available.
Acacia Grove Cabin
A contemporary, spacious eco-cabin situated within a Silver Wattle grove, this studio cabin offers expansive views and a mossy native lawn, perfect for watching the resident wildlife as you sit by the fire inside. This sunny cabin is ideally suited for up to three singles, two couples or a small family. It is equipped with a queen-sized bed and bunks. A double sofa bed is also available.
Two bedroom and Conference Cabins
As an eco-retreat, we are very different from a city hotel. You will be surrounded by wildlife of all sorts, including birds, mammals, arthropods and reptiles. Our seclusion is protected by 4km of winding gravel road, steep in places. We have 12 volt solar electricity, gas cooking, composting toilets and wood fired heaters.
Wallaby Grassland Cabin
A contemporary, spacious eco-cabin situated in an open Silver Wattle forest with outdoor space for children to play. Wallaby Grassland is a generous two-bedroom cabin with gas cooking facilities, kitchen, dining and lounge area, bathroom and separate toilet, wood heater, a large deck and upstairs balcony. Treat yourself to an outdoor bath under the stars in a private setting, just a short walk away on the edge of the forest.
Wallaby Grassland can sleep up to 9 people: the main bedroom has a queen-sized bed and double bunks, while the large upstairs bedroom has a queen-sized bed, two single beds and an optional trundle bed. This cabin can be reconfigured as a large open plan meeting space. With level access and wheel-in bathroom with grab rails, shower seat and raised toilet, Wallaby Grassland meets mobility disability standards.
A contemporary, spacious eco-cabin perched high in its own private forest grove. Its huge deck takes advantage of lofty views of the surrounding forest and spectacular distant valley and mountain views.
Clifftop is a generous two-bedroom cabin with gas cooking facilities, kitchen, dining and lounge area, bathroom and separate toilet, wood heater, a large deck with a private outdoor bath. Clifftop is ideally suited for families, friends traveling together, staff retreats and small conferences. The main bedroom has a queen-sized bed, while the second bedroom has queen-sized bed and double bunks.
Strong timber and canvas construction has allowed us to build within the natural bushland without major clearings. This gives privacy and a close connection with the peaceful surroundings. 50 minutes south from Hobart, this Tasmanian glamping experience combines comfort, nature and low price.
Inside, the tipees are very homely, with solid timber floor and carpet, coffee table, 12 volt electric lights and music, linen rack and a cosy wood fired heater. There’s also a small covered deck outside the front door for you to enjoy a drink or snack regardless of the weather. As standard in the price, the sofa converts to a double bed with sheets, pillows, doona and extra blanket supplied. We can also provide a foam mattress with bedding if you book an extra person.

Showers and toilets are at the modern campground amenities block less than one minute walk from your tipee. The campground also features our famous outdoor bath for two. This bath is shared among tipee and campground guests. After you arrive, you can write your name on the whiteboard near the bath to book it for your exclusive use for a 2 hour period.
The shared camp kitchen is well equipped for self catering. Most items are supplied including cutlery, crockery, utensils and pots. The gas range has a full sized oven. Here is the place to enjoy the company of an open fire.
The 12 volt solar electricity system runs the lights and supplied CD player. All tipees are free from television and 240 volt electricity. We can charge small 240 volt appliances at reception.

Huon Bush Retreats campground is not your average campground. We offer unpowered tent, campervan and camper trailer sites in an extensive habitat reserve with modern, spacious amenities, all the equipment you’ll need to cook up a storm, a five kilometre network of bushwalks and the opportunity for an outdoor bath under the stars.
Each tent site is private and surrounded by Huon Bush Retreat’s protected native forest. Individual campervan sites provide level parking for a comfortable nights sleep, are located close to amenities and are also surrounded by native bushland.
Shower and Toilet Block
Our amenities block is clean, modern and spacious. It is equipped with Natureloo composting toilets, hot showers and a laundry trough. There is one disabled shower and toilet that meets full wheelchair standards.
esigned to take full advantage of fantastic mountainside views the mud brick and laserlight outdoor entertainment area boasts a well equipped kitchen with barbeque, full gas range, oven, basic utensils, crockery, cutlery and a fire drum (we supply firewood). There is no fridge but eskies are usually available on request (BYO ice).
Private Walk-in Tent Sites
Tent Site South has a 3m x 5m level tent site and surrounding open area. This private site is 50 metres walk from the car park, one minute walk from the rest of the facilities.
Tent Site West is a private walk-in site 30 metres from the road, just one minute walk from the facilities and best suits small tents.
Tent Site East is open and sunny walk-in site 30 metres from the road, just one minute walk from the facilities and is large enough for a family tent.
Tent site East and West are connected via a 20 metre track to suit friends travelling together.
Car Accessible Tent Sites
Car Camp South is a large site directly accessible by car and is situated one minute walk from camp kitchen. It is suitable for large family groups, camper trailer or friends wishing to camp close to each other.
Car Camp Central is a medium site accessible by car and is30 seconds walk from the camp kitchen.
The van sites each have their own nook within the surrounding forest.
Campervan Site East is open and sunny.
Campervan Site West is tucked into the forest.
Due to council restrictions on the winding narrow road leading to Huon Bush Retreats, we cannot allow caravans or very large RVs. However standard size campervans and camper trailers towed by a four wheel drive are fine.
