Crystal Creek Rainforest Retreat Details

Overview

Seclusion, privacy and an exquisite natural backdrop make Crystal Creek Rainforest Retreat the ideal setting for a getaway or a romantic getaway or honeymoon. Nestled at the base of the World Heritage listed Springbrook National Park, on the NSW / Qld border are just ten luxurious private cabins, bungalows and lodges hidden amongst the trees, capturing the tranquility of the stunning rainforest. While the surrounds may be unspoilt, guests are definitely not. Each bungalow contains a king-sized bed, fully equipped kitchen, quality flat screen TV/DVD, stereo and a sumptuous double spa bath or luxurious solid marblebath overlooking the rainforest. Guests can self-cater, cook a barbeque at leisure on their balcony or enjoy find cuisine provided by their hosts eaten at leisure by candlelight in the privacy of their bungalow. Take a picnic pack and meander along one of the many secluded tracks on our pristine 250 acre rainforest, swim in crystal rock pools - or do nothing at all - in hammocks suspended over the water.
Our 13 architect-designed bungalows are located in a spectacularly lush rainforest, set discreetly apart so that none is visible from any other.
Creekside Spa Cabins
Traditional romantic cottage with exposed timber beams
These lovely romantic cabins are set amongst the rainforest, close to the creek. This traditional cottage-like accommodation has a cosy, warm and romantic feel with exposed cedar ceiling beams. A separate bedroom with king-sized bed adjoins the en suite with its large double spa bath with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the rainforest.
The Creekside Spa Cabins are set amongst the trees, close to the creek. These highly sought-after, traditional cottage style cabins have a cosy, romantic feel. A separate bedroom with king-sized bed adjoins the en suite with its large double spa bath with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the rainforest. Served by a fully equipped kitchen, the dining area adjoins a spacious but intimate lounge which opens onto a private covered deck.
The cabins have top quality flat-screen TV/DVD/CD surround sound systems with speakers in every room, so you're never far away from your ambient music. Reverse-cycle air conditioning in every room, including the bathroom, keeps you comfy all year round.
Set in dense rainforest, these intimate cabins create an idyllic romantic setting for you and your partner. Listen to the sound of the flowing creek as you wine and dine by candlelight. Surround the indoor spa with candles and gaze out the window at the beauty that is the Crystal Creek rainforest.
The Tamarind Bungalow
Intimate, contemporary rainforest bungalow
Set amongst the rainforest close to the creek, this spacious bungalow has a clean-lined modern feel. It has a polished wooden floor throughout, a romantic fireplace in the bedroom, a marble-and-tile bathroom with double spa and rainforest views plus a large private deck.
Set amongst the trees, close to the creek, Tamarind is a traditional romantic cottage style of bungalow, with exposed ceiling beams of polished wood, but its ambience is open and spacious. One entire wall of the living space and bedroom is glass, bringing the tranquillity of the rainforest inside whilst preserving the feeling of comfort and intimacy. The ensuite has a large double spa bath set into marble and serene vistas of the rainforest through its own full-length windows. Polished wooden floors and a romantic wood-burning fireplace in the bedroom add the essential finishing touches. This bungalow oozes relaxation. A large modern lounge area features a top-quality flat screen LCD TV, DVD, CD and surround sound system with speakers in every room.
Reverse-cycle air-conditioning in every room, including the bathroom, keeps you comfy in all weathers. A modern, streamlined, fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, adjoins a dining area which opens onto a private covered deck. Braise the meat ingredients of your Gourmet Hampers on its barbecue – then bask in the sun on the lounges on the open deck.
Set amidst dense pristine rainforest, this bungalow creates a cosy romantic setting for you and your partner. Listen to the sound of the flowing creek as you wine and dine by candlelight. Surround the indoor spa with candles, turn on the outside spotlights and gaze out the window at the unique beauty of the old-growth rainforest.
During our last renovations to Tamarind, we decided to make wheelchair access easy. This bungalow is entirely on one level, including both covered and open decks; there are no steps to the front door and its plan was already spacious and open – making it an ideal candidate for this treatment.
We widened and repositioned the doors in the bungalow and moved internal walls to make both the bedroom and main bathroom larger; the bed is now easily accessed from all sides by wheelchair, and the double spa bath has ample wheelchair clearance around it. There is also a second marble bathroom which fully complies with accessibility guidelines. The entire floor plan is easily navigable and wheelchair-friendly.
The kitchen, which was compact in size with a small floor space, was completely opened up. Its microwave oven, used to heat any Delicious Dinners we've delivered, is beneath benchtop level, and there are no wall-mounted cabinets above the benchtop.
Rainforest Canopy Bungalows
A contemporary split-level cabin with fireplace and spa
Luxury private cabin accommodation with spa and fireplace. An intimate split-level cabin with a curved, oak-lined ceiling sweeping over the whole interior, with expansive floor-to-ceiling windows. On the mezzanine is the bedroom and double spa bathroom with rainforest vistas.
Enter these bungalows through the spacious, thoroughly equipped kitchen with full-sized oven. Wander through to the living/dining room with its cosy fireplace and marvel at the high oak-lined, curved ceiling sweeping over both levels of this open split-level design. Expansive windows provide tranquil views of the rainforest. A large covered deck is equipped with barbecue, table setting and lounge chairs where you can enjoy a book or simply lay back, relax and absorb the surrounding beauty. There is a top-quality flat-screen TV/DVD/CD surround sound system with speakers in every room. Reverse-cycle air conditioning throughout, including the bathroom, keeps you comfy all year round.
Up the stairs to the mezzanine level is the bedroom with king-sized bed. Its floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the pristine rainforest are continued in the en suite bathroom with a walk-in shower and large sunken spa bath in its own glass enclave – luxuriate in a bubbling spa surrounded by rainforest, floor-to-ceiling on three sides. Crystal Creek Rainforest Retreat has two Rainforest Canopy Bungalows, called Kamala and Booyong. Each accommodates one couple only.
Glass Terrace Bungalows
Modern open-plan luxury – glass walls bring the outside inside
These very spacious open-plan bungalows are almost totally enclosed in glass, maximising the impact of expansive rainforest and mountain views. Eight sliding glass-screened doors open onto a large covered verandah. The large double spa bath and walk-in shower have rainforest vistas.
These spacious, airy, open-plan bungalows are almost totally enclosed in glass, allowing uninterrupted views of the stunning rainforest. Floor-to-ceiling windows and incredible rainforest vistas feature in the galley-style kitchen and walk-in shower. Top-of-the-range flat screen TV, DVD and CD in the living area and bedroom are complemented with a surround sound system piped throughout the bungalow. Sliding glass doors open to a large covered deck allowing inside and outside to become one with expansive old growth rainforest and romantic mountain views. Prepare your favourite barbecue meal, then sit back, relax and enjoy the remarkable serenity of the rainforest.
Renovations in March 2012 included all-new larger kitchens with dishwashers and granite benchtops. Stunning new marble bathrooms lead to a private deck featuring an outdoor shower. Now you can shower completely 'au natural' with the rainforest surrounding you. A new double-sided fireplace provides luxurious warmth for both the living area and the bedroom.
There are two Glass Terrace Bungalows, called Satinash and Pandorea. Each has an internet connection. Each accommodates one couple only.
Luxury Lodges – Mountain View
Luxury ascends to a spectacular level
High in the Retreat, our five Luxury Mountain View Lodges present breathtaking aspects to the surrounding tropical landscape. The private decks incorporate an outdoor kitchen and large endless heated plunge pools featuring wet edges on three sides. With ultra-spacious open plans, each Luxury Lodge features a double-sided fireplace, generous walk-in wardrobe and much more.
Take luxury and location to the top level
Our Luxury Lodge accommodation features contemporary design, an intoxicating airy spaciousness, floor-to-ceiling windows, private deck with heated endless pool and premium-quality appliances.
Awe-inspiring private views
Higher in the Retreat, each Luxury Mountain View Lodge presents a breathtaking aspect to the surrounding landscape, magically combining lofty mountain ridges on high with tropical valleys of genuine old-growth rainforest and stoic trees that are centuries old. The beginning and end of each day are imbued with the epic, aeons-old mystery of an ancient forest setting.
The ultimate in rainforest luxury
Including the deck, the floor space of the architect-designed open plan is over 150 square metres. A cosy, romantic double-sided fireplace screens the bedroom from the generous living area, with a big clear skylight (with block-out blind) above the bed for stargazing. Reverse-cycle air conditioning keeps you comfortable all year round. A walk-in wardrobe provides generous space for suitcases and the like. In the bathroom, floor-to-ceiling windows integrate the stunning beauty of the rainforest with the indulgence of the luxury double solid marble bath. Recycled French oak floorboards add a glamorous patina throughout. The private decks on these Lodges incorporate solar-heated plunge pools which feature wet edges on three sides and a stainless-steel roasting barbecue.
Sustainable accommodation
The Luxury Lodges are also the next step up in sustainability. Combining classic design with modern energy efficiency technology. In addition to standard insulation in walls and ceiling, the Lodges also employ new innovations such as 'Comfort Plus' glass in its floor-to-ceiling windows. With insulating properties far superior to standard glass, the Lodge successfully keeps the heat in during winter and keeps it out in summer.
The plunge pool is solar heated and as long as there is some sun it will be warm for all but the four coldest months of the year, when environmental responsibility takes precedence over heating an outdoor pool in winter. Of course in the winter months you can indulge in the double-sided fire inside. There are many invisible – but very tangible – additions that will make your stay extremely comfortable while being respectful to our environment.
The Luxury Mountain View Lodges have everything that makes all our bungalows comfortable and luxurious, plus much more. There are five Luxury Lodges in all: Numinbah, Springbrook, Byron, Tambourine and Lamington.
