Chongwe Safaris is one of the oldest and most established companies in the Lower Zambezi. Established in 1996 we are proud to offer you our award-winning formula of great service in the best location in the Lower Zambezi. Our safari is a unique and unforgettable experience, whether you stay at Chongwe River Camp, Tsika Island, Kasaka River Lodge, or our exclusive and private Chongwe River House, we will make sure your stay with us is a real home away from home - a place where you can unwind and switch off from the rest of the world. We offer an unmatched variety of activities. Day and night drives, boats cruises, walking safaris or our flagship experience canoeing which offers you the opportunity to view wildlife from a more natural perspective. The Lower Zambezi is also widely known as one of the best places to catch (and release) a tiger fish or two. For those with the time, we recommend combining a safari in the Lower Zambezi with our sister company, Norman Carr Safaris in the stunning South Luangwa National Park, Zambia.
Relax! It's the only thing we insist upon at Chongwe.
You can put your feet up on our furniture without worrying what anyone is going to think... Or curl up amongst plump cushions with a good book and not bother about appearances...
We like great service and winning smiles more than dressing for dinner.
These are the ethics we take seriously in all of our award-winning accommodation options.
Whether it's our Classic Tents or our exclusive Albida and Cassia tented suites, we make sure your accommodation is a real home from home - a place you can make your own, unwind and be yourself.
A policy of non-intrusive enjoyment of wildlife and low environmental impact has helped to make the Lower Zambezi valley one of southern Africas premier game viewing destinations.
Add to this the amazing fauna and flora found in and on the banks of Africa's fourth largest river, and you begin to understand why this amazing wilderness is so special.
At Chongwe River Camp, activities are tailored to make the most of this incredibly diverse wilderness.
Game viewing can be done from a vehicle in either the Lower Zambezi National Park or the Chiawa Partnership Park or, if you prefer, from a boat on the Zambezi.
Canoeing, walking and, of course, fishing, are also offered. And for those interested in the rich cultural heritage of the area, community visits can be arranged.
Chongwe River Camp has 9 bedrooms featuring pure luxury throughout.
