The space
A unique opportunity has arisen to stay in one of the most historic palazzos in Tuscany. It has just been acquired by the Brennan family and is for the first time available for holiday stays. It nestles within the breathtakingly beautiful hill-top village of Belforte. This is a true opportunity to experience authentic Italian living, past and present.
The house has maintained its traditional and original character since (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) and has not been insensitively modernised. It has many rooms with impressively high ceilings including five large bedrooms and four bathrooms, a beautifully presented huge drawing room with medieval Tuscan decor, dining room opening up through french-doors on to the dining terrace and several other rooms typical of a grand previous era. Rooms contain original furniture and antiques and beautiful beamed ceilings and original floor tiling is present throughout. With large windows from most rooms offering views on to the stunning countryside or on to the village street, Italian nature and banter are never far away. It is never hard to follow the sunshine: enjoy your morning coffee on the balcony at the front of the house, eat alfresco-style on the dining terrace which opens up from the dining room and have pre-dinner drinks on the roof terrace whilst enjoying panaromic views of the local beautiful countryside or night sky. No need for air-conditioning as the thick stone medieval walls keep the inside of the house wonderfully cool.
The house features rooms that are truly unique: the Vanni drawing room at 55sqm is larger than a lot of apartments and housing original furniture, antiques, an original fencing sword and french windows opening on to the from balcony guarantees an extravagant experience; the Grand Bedroom is also 55sqm and will probably be the largest bedroom you will ever sleep in; the hobbit room had the smallest door imaginable (if you can find it) which opens up into a room dedicated to the houses memorabilia from centuries ago; the dining room opens up both on the south facing terrace and alsoon to the overflow dining area which overlooks the 15 century church; the roof terrace being the highest point of the village (which is one of the highest villages in the region) allows you to see the beautiful countryside from all directions.
Belforte is simply a beautiful and authentic Italian experience. It contains a friendly bar and restaurant, grocery, post-office and two medieval churches from which the local bells will ring out to urge you to wake and savour this magical place. The people are incredibly friendly and will help you in any way they can. Here you can sample local olive oils, wines and lots of other local produce.
Guest access
All space in the house is for the visitors exclusive use. The house can accommodate more than 8 guests, but this number provides the perfect space to roam throughout this large home.
