Wye River sits between Apollo Bay and Lorne. A regular stop on the Great Ocean Road route, this small coastal town, more akin to a village, is surrounded by lush wilderness and is one of the main natural attractions on the coast for wildlife lovers.
Here, the verdant forest comes right down to the coastline, encroaching upon the rigged beaches. This leads to there being an incredibly diverse range of wildlife for nature lovers to encounter.
Although Wye River is not fully equipped to handle a vast number of tourists, it does have some basic infrastructure including a small store, and a number of good restaurants and cafes. All in all, Wye River is more suited to nature lovers than sun and sand worshipers, and this is very evident in the facilities which are available locally.
