Launceston Accommodation

On average you’ll pay 10% less compared to other sites for booking Launceston Accommodation on Wild Escapes.
Launceston is Tasmania’s second-largest city and one of Australia’s oldest, with a city centre boasting elegant Georgian and Victorian buildings and parks. Set on the River Tamar in Tasmania’s central north, it’s a vibrant cultural city with great restaurants, museums and art galleries which makes an excellent base for touring the surrounding region. Luxury accommodation is available close to the main attractions. There are many fine restaurants in the city – we especially enjoy Stillwater which offers fine dining in a restored flour mill dating from the 1830’s.

Within walking distance of the city centre is Cataract Gorge – a stunning natural oasis right in the heart of town, with its walks, gardens, panoramic views, and even a chairlift.

From Launceston, you can follow the Tamar River northwards through the beautiful rural landscape which is Tasmania’s premier wine-making region. There are lavender fields, orchards, forests and many pretty and historic villages along the route.
