The small town of Bridport lies on Tasmania’s stunning north east coast, about an hour’s drive from Launceston. Famous for its wide sandy beaches, coastal conservation parks and bushland reserves, Bridport is a popular choice for holidaymakers. It’s also great for golfers – there are 3 courses in the town including Barnbougle Dunes – one of the world’s best public golf courses and number one in all Australia.

There are some excellent dining options in the town, with many alfresco restaurants offering seafood and local freshwater rainbow trout from Australia’s first trout farm which is nearby. Luxury accommodation is available overlooking the impressive Anderson Bay.

Granite Bay Conservation Area is well worth a visit, especially in Spring when the many rare wild flowers bloom. Other nearby areas have spectacular ocean views, sand dunes, rare bird species and waterfalls. The Bridstowe Lavender Estate at nearby Nabowla has immense fields of pretty blue flowers which bloom in December and January.
