The Adelaide Hills is a very wild and rugged area of Australia. With a cool year-round climate, the region is renowned for some of the exceptional wine it produces. Despite this cool climate, the area is one of the most heavily polluted when it comes to unique Australian species such as the kangaroo and koala.
Whilst there are some exceptional national and state-run parks very close to the Adelaide Hills, nature lovers really seldom need to go this far to experience true wilderness, as the region is very sparsely populated and largely undeveloped. If you enjoy your nature in a rough and ready manner, then this wild region could be for you.
