With unique accommodations built into the ground, rather than on top of it, Down To Earth Farm Retreat isn't your average holiday stay. The Burrow and Lakeview are examples of earth-sheltered living, which means they blend into the natural surroundings. Even the roofs (which just happen to be native gardens) look like part of the environment.
The Burrow and Lakeview are set on a private 130-acre property, which is part paddocked farmland and part native bushland. There are rocky outcrops, pastures and quiet gullies, and guests are welcome to wander the property and explore. Be sure to catch one of the spectacular sunsets over the lake, and keep an eye out for visitors – kangaroos, wallabies, kookaburras, echidnas and even wombats.
The Burrow and Lakeview’s interiors reflect the sustainable living ethos of the property, with concrete walls and plenty of timber accompanying the simple, comfortable furnishings. It makes for a seamless transition between the outdoor and indoor spaces. The accommodations have central heating, but no air-conditioning – the construction of the buildings renders extra cooling unnecessary.
The Burrow has two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a queen bed, and the second bedroom has a double bed. Both bedrooms have a wardrobe. Lakeview has one queen bedroom. Linen and towels are provided in both accommodations. A portacot is available on request.
