Anchlia Waterfront Cottages Details

Overview

Anchlia (pronounced Ank-Leea) Waterfront Cottages are the perfect place to relax and enjoy some peace, relaxation and tranquillity.
Anchlia Waterfront Cottages comprise of three self contained apartments, Anchlia Executive House the newest addition to the site, Cod Rock Terrace and the quaint Penguin Nook. All three cottages underwent a soft refurbishment in January 2014.
Anchlia Waterfront Cottages are located in a magnificent secluded, absolute waterfront location amongst native gums and just metres from the ocean at Cod Rock Point. v Our ocean frontage is shared with the world’s cutest little penguins. For most of the year at dusk they wander around the cottages.
Start your morning with a walk though our gorgeous gardens directly to the foreshore walk. Visit some of the local attractions, laze on the beach, listen to the water lap the shore and finish the day watching the sunset over the water and the penguins appear before your eyes as they nest around the cottage most of the year.
Anchlia Waterfront Cottages are located in Bicheno central to Tasmania’s sunny East Coast just north of the Freycinet Peninsula.
Sand, surf, sea and sun epitomise Bicheno, a spectacular fishing town founded on the sea and its bounty. Nearby there’s Governors Island Marine Reserve with some of the world’s most spectacular underwater scenery and sea life. See it from a glass-bottomed boat or book a dive through Bicheno Dive Centre.
The Cottages are merely an easy 10 minute stroll from the town centre along the ocean foreshore walking track. Here you will find numerous small convenience, tourist and local produce shops for you to browse, not to mention some excellent restaurants, a bakery and coffee shops.
Bicheno is one of Tasmania’s most beautiful towns and a very popular holiday destination. It began life as a sealing and whaling town and then transitioned to a coal mining port, but today fishing (mainly for crayfish, oysters, scallops, blue eye trevalla and other scale fish) is the largest industry. There is also a large abalone farm south of the town centre in Harveys Farm Road. Bicheno is blessed with many natural attractions, including a mild climate, beaches and superb fishing of almost every type, but has not relied solely upon these.
Fairy penguins can be observed around most of Bicheno’s coastline. A guided “penguin tour” is available to the foreshore opposite Diamond Island which provides further educational information. A footway, constructed for Australia’s bicentennial in 1988, extends from Redbill Point north of Bicheno, to the blowhole at the south. Whalers Lookout provides spectacular views, and in October and November, gorgeous rock orchids native to the east coast.
